Circa 1903. This young girl, perhaps 14 or 15 at the time of photo, is like a fawn in the forest, questioning the strange things about civilization that she gazes upon for the first time. I hope the viewers respond to this painting as a memorial site for a lost time. I left the edges exposed on the canvas as a way of saying that her future hasn't been written.
